, we had listed that the game wasn’t due out until 2015. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from the community and some extremely successful fund raising, the interesting creative writing game has released early, hitting Steam just a couple of days ago. If you haven’t already read our positive review ofit in the December issue of our magazine, it’s definitely worth a look for budding writers.
Writers and prospective writers will find a lot of neat elements here. The game provides a handful of bleak worlds and strange landmarks inspired by the works of classic writers in hopes to inspire the player’s creative muse. Using differing degrees of prompts, the writer can fill in the blanks, end prompted sentences, or go full out and write whatever inspiration happens to strike them in these strange worlds. With the ability to share whatever you write to the game’s community, it will provide a springboard for new and experienced writers to show off their stuff to an audience.
As a tool, the game prompts can provide a good starting point for creativity, and filling in the blanks and sentences can help teach new writers how to start composing and constructing ideas. It’s an intriguing experiment for the medium, and despite it simplicity, the game offers several avenues to get some creative writing done. With holiday breaks on the way, now might be the time to invest in your writing career .
