Save the Holidays From Evil Presidents & The Illuminati in Atomic Santa: Christmas Omega
The Illuminati and the president made a powerful enemy the day they decided to nuke Santa’s home in the North Pole, never realizing the power the jolly old elf had hidden in the bunkers under his frozen fortress.
The Illuminati and the president made a powerful enemy the day they decided to nuke Santa’s home in the North Pole, never realizing the power the jolly old elf had hidden in the bunkers under his frozen fortress. Revived using elven science and with a cybernetically-enhanced Rudolph backing him up, Santa’s enemies will pay, and religious iconography will be returned to the holidays. Why any of this is happening is kinda beyond me, but whatever. Buckle up, because Christmas is getting saved in Jay Tholen’s Atomic Santa: Christmas Omega .
The game is a bit of a departure from Tholen’s main project, Dropsy , a game about a cute, silent, ridiculous clown who wants to spread love through hugs. It’s pure action for its three levels as you guide Santa and his sleigh through groups of weird enemies, as he restores religious imagery. On foot, Santa can swing his bag at his enemies, dropping them in a few hits while also knocking projectiles back at them. In the air, you can use Rudolph’s laser nose to shoot down your foes, and charge up a more powerful beam for when you face the game’s bosses. Assaulted on all sides from beam-shooting Illuminati, presidential drones, and someone who might be Jay-Z, the game is relentless. Those three stages will last some time as you try to figure out what exactly is going on. At least you get a little health back every time you rebuild one of the nativity scenes that get knocked down in the fray.
Purchases of the game also come with the soundtrack, giving you some strangely aggressive Christmas tunes to add to your holiday playlist. At $0.99 (you can donate more if you’re in a giving mood), Atomic Santa: Christmas Omega is good for some laughs, and more than a little confusion, during the holidays.
Atomic Santa: Christmas Omega is available for $0.99 on itch.io. For more information on Jay Tholen and his projects, you can go to his website, or follow him on Bandcamp, Facebook, and Twitter.
