Spiderweb Software has announced today that Avernum 6 HD is coming to iPad on October 10th, 2012. For those unfamiliar with Avernum , Avernum 6 is the finale game in the award-winning series of fantasy adventures. Set in the world of Avernum , you will be able to explore caves far below the surface of the world and discover dungeons, labyrinths, and engage in constant warfare for the final time.

Originally released on the Mac and PC, Avernum is a nation underground that once was a prison colony for rebels and thugs turned to a wild frontier where adventurous souls seek wealth, fame, and magical power. When the Blight came the mushrooms that Avernum needed to feed itself slowly withered and died. The weakened Avernum is now a feeding ground for the reptilian Slithzerikai and it is up to you to get your people to safety before everything falls apart.

Avernum 6 has been praised for its writing by bringing the player a quality story-line with strong character development all packaged in a nice classic RPG.
