Beam Slides Onto Android Devices

Abstract puzzle games seem to me to be the easiest and hardest type of game to develop.

Abstract puzzle games seem to me to be the easiest and hardest type of game to develop. On one hand, they generally require a simpler style, but on the other hand they can be very frustrating for players if the learning curve is too steep. Beam , from Et Tu? Games, is a game that seems to have found a good balance between the two.

In Beam , players have to slide colored discs around a grid to accomplish the different goals of every level. If two pieces of the same color are aligned, they will form a beam between them, but two pieces of different colors won’t. Also, if a piece tries to pass through a beam of a different color, it will burn and make the puzzle reset. There are two main goals to complete the levels: slide a piece to a tile of the same color or form a specific number of beams.

As the player progresses through the game, the grid starts changing its size, format, and the number of colors and discs in play. The goals also change from level to level, even in the same set of puzzles, and sometimes the player will be presented with new features, such as tiles that change the color of the discs. Even with the game’s simple visuals, the gameplay is so dynamic that players are sure to find the challenge they’re looking for.

Beam is available now for free on Google Play Storefor Android devices, with no ads, no in-app purchases, and waiting times. A later release on iOS is planned, but with no dates set yet. More information can be found on the game’s official website.
