iMpulse Controller — More Gamepads For Your iGaming

While we all love the idea of carrying videogames’ fun with us around the clock, fiddling with virtual on-screen buttons is something hateful that most of us have had to live with since the early days.

While we all love the idea of carrying videogames’ fun with us around the clock, fiddling with virtual on-screen buttons is something hateful that most of us have had to live with since the early days. Sure, Sony Xperia Play and iCade are there to help, but they’re not exactly the slim elegance that you’re comfortable with bringing around. iMpulse Controller might fix that.

Designed as a key-chain, the mini-gamepad features a gliding thumbstick and four physical buttons. It connects to the device via Bluetooth, the controller is wireless, with a microUSB port for charging purpose. Other than for gaming pleasures, iMpulse Controller has some lifehack tricks up its sleeves — you can find your lost keys with a chipping sound.

The developers boasts “hundreds and growing” of games to play with at the moment, and are currently working to expand its library. Interesting enough, iMpulse works on everything that worked with iCade, suggesting the same SDK being used. Even better, Android support is currently stated as “coming soon”, promising future cross-device compatibility.

The iMpulse Controller is slated for a release in Q4 this year, but pre-order is available now at the cost of $19.99. Looks like a good deal, considering that the iCade set costs $70. In theory, it should work on any next iDevices, giving you a long-term use and making it an even more tempting purchase.
